ENFORCEMENT PROGRAM
The new underground damage prevention enforcement process has become official as of November 2020. Information about how the process will work can be found at the Underground Damage Prevention Authority website – www.aludpa.org

LOCATE REQUESTS PROCESSED
January – November 2019 – 590,591
January – November 2020 –539,401 – 9% Decrease
(Note: Ticket life is now 20 working days instead of 10 working days which has caused a reduction in update locate requests. New excavation requests appear to be increasing compared to 2019).
TRANSMISSIONS - UTILITY MEMBERS/LOCATORS

January – November 2020 – 4,517,589 – 12% Decrease
NEW MEMBERS/MEMBER CHANGES
EFFECTIVE 1/1/2021
Beginning January 1, 2021 two major changes went into effect • Positive Response will be in effect. Facility owners
will be required to respond to the Alabama 811 Positive Response system. Excavators may check the status of their locate request via the Alabama 811 website. See the article in this edition for more information
• Underground Facility Owners who have more than 25K customers and more than 500 miles of underground must become a member of Alabama 811 by 1/1/21.
ONLINE AND MOBILE APPLICATIONS FOR LOCATE REQUESTS
There are two options to “calling” in a locate request. Locate requests can be processed online via the web portal or the mobile application. Visit Alabama 811’s website at www.al811. com to get more information about these two programs.
