(Note: Ticket life is now 20 working days instead of 10 working days which has caused a reduction in update locate requests. New excavation requests appear to be increasing compared to 2019).

Beginning January 1, 2020 two major changes went into effect • The notification period is now required to be 2 FULL
working days. The day of notification will no longer count in the calculation of the 2 working day notice. The notification clock will begin at 7am on the following work day.
• The “life” of a locate request is extended from 10 to 20 working days which will allow for longer period to work under a valid locate request before the locate request will need to be updated. Remember it is the responsibility of the excavator to maintain the marks during the “valid” period of the locate request.
ONLINE AND MOBILE APPLICATIONS FOR LOCATE REQUESTS
There are two options to “calling” in a locate request. Locate requests can be processed online via the web portal or the mobile application. Visit Alabama 811’s website at www.al811. com to get more information about these two programs.
